Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

Who attends therapy?

Sometimes it is easier for one person from a family to attend the first session alone. We also work with individuals. Our relationship perspective does not require that every person be in the room at once. It is simply a way of working with people that incorporates the importance of relationships.

Do you take insurance?

No. Cascadia Family Therapy does not take insurance. While we do qualify as an out of network provider, that requires a Diagnostic Statistical Manual mental illness diagnosis. We do not label our clients with mental illness.

How long are sessions?

Our most common session length is 60 minutes. However, 90 minute sessions are recommended for couples or large family sessions.

How often are we expected to attend?

The frequency of sessions is agreed upon between the client(s) and therapist(s). The frequency is determined by need, motivation, and sometimes severity.

How many sessions should I expect?

Typically the average couple or family attends 8-12 sessions. Individual clients average 12-16 sessions.

What methods of payment are accepted?

Cascadia Family Therapy accepts credit/debit (via Square) or cash. Payment is due in full at the time of the session.
